It is a beautiful sunny day Downtown, and I have to go for brunch. The Gastown location was so airy and filled with light. "Pork" was my choice, which comes with toast, poached eggs, sausages, white bean puree, and pickled onion. Pickled onion really elevates the flavour of this dish, cutting down the fattiness of the sausage and balancing everything.

The best breakfast sandwich ever (get the Mortadella Supreme)! It was perfect, the drinks were delicious and the service friendly. We’ve done brunch at dozens of places across the world and the sandwich was the best. There are only 4 booths or so, other than that you’ll likely have to share a table. We went on a Sunday and the lineup was hours long but not bad on Monday if you get there before 10:00. The eggs bene were overcooked so make sure you tell them how you like it. The drinks were also excellent but not very hot. Knowing those things and telling them up front will probably make it better but we’ll definitely be going back.

Cafe Nemesis is one of my top 5 favorite coffee shops in Vancouver. The one in Mount Pleasant wins in terms of ambiance, but this one on Hastings champions overall because of service, convenience, and the line is not as crazy as on Mount Pleasant. I already had a dose of coffee from Elysian today, but after lunch, I was tempted to have an another round when I passed by this cafe—I just couldn’t resist. I had a mocha and paired it with a pistachio swirl. This is one of the few cafes where I can easily get a great coffee, and an amazing pastry which leaves you confused about which one to choose, plus a nice atmosphere- the vibe, music, etc.. The service at this location is honestly better than the other Nemesis Cafe locations. The man who took my order also went around and served a glass of water. Little things like that make a difference, especially with so many good cafes around Vancouver. Making an extra effort like this really helps the place stand out. I always come to visit this cafe when I’m in the area as I always have good memories here which tempts me to stop by and take a quick pause. Truly a 5 star.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
