My wife and I always wonder why we don't eat at this gem more often after we visit. The same conversation occurred today. We shared a Muffuletta sandwich and a bowl of seafood gumbo both were delicious. The gumbo comes with a piece of cornbread. Really yummy. We like to crumble it over the gumbo. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Restaurant is always clean and comfortable. The only negative that I have is that you order at a counter and they bring you your food. Not the end of the world but it's one of my personal dislikes about any restaurant. If I'm going out to eat I like to sit down, relax and have time to review the menu and decide what I want. When I order at a counter I feel rushed (even if I'm not being rushed). Just a personal preference.

Food used to be good here, not sure what’s happened. Ordered a frozen blueberry lemonade. It was good but as you can see in the picture no blue in sight which leads me to believe they used a syrup or flavoring, not actual blueberries. The beignets were OK. Very lackluster but only $3.5 so you get what you pay for. Ordered a cup of jambalaya. Super salty and not very flavorful besides salt. The corn bread was good. 3 stars because later in the day all I had was heartburn from the jambalaya. I typically only get that when food has been made with cheap quality ingredients, specifically tomatoes or meat. I hadn’t eaten anything else that day so it was definitely from here. Skip this place unless you’re just going for coffee and get jambalaya at Fat Cams instead.

I met my Uncle yesterday at the Chicory Cafe in Downtown Mishawaka. It was very Clean and the wait staff was very friendly. I had a chocolate milk and between 2-5 they have buy 1 drink get 1 free so I got 2 for the price of one. I didn’t eat anything off the menu so I can’t comment much on their food but I had a yogurt with granola and blueberries to go. My uncle eats there a lot and says their food is very good. I saw quite a few people just drinking coffee or tea and using their laptops so it seems like a chill environment. I’ll definitely go back to the Chicory Cafe.
