I do not recommend this place at all. We stood in line for at least 30 minutes and then when we finally got to the window to place our order, our order was thrown at us in a matter of 30 seconds. The beignets were covered in hard and dried powdered sugar. They came off into our hands in chunks, which left the beignet naked and over fried. There was no flavor in this. The coffee they handed us was pouring outside the cup, and there forgot all over our hands. It was the worst coffee of our trip. I do not recommend this place. It is overrated. You are much better off going to a smaller local shop than the world famous Café du Monde.

I’ll admit, I was not too excited to go back but I was wrong. Beignets were hot, light, fresh, and delicious. Hot chocolate was piping hot and sweet. It was cold outside that helped to enhance the experience. I have been when it’s hot outside and hot fried dough with hot chocolate can be too much. I crushed it all and wanted more. Waitress was personable and didn’t delay. Powdered sugar falling in hot chocolate when dipping it made it better.

A fun experience at this historic Cafe est 1876, a fun experience. I gave it 5 stars for the experience as this is a must do if you’re in New Orleans. Don’t be put off with the long queue, it moves really fast. They’re open 24/7 with just classic beignets and coffee on the menu. (Not a stop if you’re strictly gluten free!)
