I have mixed feelings about this spot. When we arrived around 11:30 AM, they had already run out of pastries, which was a bit disappointing. They’re known for their lattes, but I was in the mood for a cortado. Unfortunately, the espresso didn’t quite hit the mark for me—it had a heavier taste than I prefer. On the bright side, the hot cocoa was delicious. The atmosphere is minimalist and modern, with standing counters instead of traditional seating—very fitting for downtown and reminds me of Italian coffee bars. It’s a great concept, but not the best setup for small kids in the winter. During warmer months, though, the beautiful alley could be a nice spot for them to hang out. The staff was incredibly friendly, and I’ll definitely be back to try a latte. Overall, it’s a solid choice for a quick coffee stop in downtown.

Astonishingly good coffee. Nice menu, great espresso, tea options, great location. Just wish there was seating...tons of standing options. The coffee is great. Not really a place to hang and work, though, as there is no seating. Parking can be awful. Street parking is cheapest.

Mad cap had been on my radar for years since I ordered their coffee online, but this was the first time I finally got to go in person. The shop was in a really cool location, although parking was slightly tricky, but that may just be me being unfamiliar with the city. I got a pour over and the pumpkin loaf, and both were as good as expected. Wish I could’ve stayed and sat outside in the alley with the awesome mural, but alas, I had to take it to go.
