I've held back on making a review for the 2 years that Sip has been open, visiting again and again hoping that the experience will be different, or that they needed time to get up and running/put processes in place, but it's the same every time. Unfortunately, every time I've visited Sip, I've been increasingly disappointed. There have been times where I'm just...never served my order and completely ignored by the staff, where staff conversations take priority over a line nearly to the door, my order has been wrong or just plain bad every time. It feels like a place where if you know the staff, you're welcome, and if you don't, you're a nuisance. By no means am I expecting this place to function at insane speeds like Starbucks has trained us to expect, but there are clearly challenges with efficiency as well. It makes me so sad that this isn't the place I can rely on within Alger Heights. In good conscience, I cannot recommend Sip for coffee or cocktails.

I’ve been itching to visit this place since I first saw the sign pop up on the front of their building a few months ago! I stopped by the second day they were open and was pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere and quality of coffee! I’m a true coffee lover and I typically just get a straight up latte with no flavors or frills—this allows me to hone in and really focus on the taste of the espresso & I can gladly say that Sip’s espresso is great! This little cafe has ample seating if you’re looking to “post up” to get some work done. It is super cute and has an amazingly local feel. A bonus for me is that this place lies right along my daily work commute so they’ll all definitely be seeing me on a regular basis!

We’ve visited for coffee and dinner now! The cocktails are okay but expensive, the coffee is pretty good, and the food is AWESOME. I ordered the Oatmeal Latte and loved it! For dinner, we got the Bees Knees, the Pineapple Orange Cream (don’t order, too bitter), the French 75, and a glass of Chardonnay to drink. They’re about $15/drink which is a little much but bearable. For food we got the spicy feta dip and the barbecue chicken flatbread. Both dishes were amazing!! Very good. Between the two dishes for two people we walked away very full, so good portion sizes. Other tidbits to add: it feel like their cocktails could be refined a bit as many feel modified to be *quirky*, the plates and serving materials are so cool and high quality, and the aesthetic of the whole place is very charming! The staff is wonderful and friendly! I will love to see how this place improves in the future!
