If you’re in Albany by the Capitol, don’t miss out on the Iron Gate Cafe! Housed in a historic school-turned-home-turned-cafe, it offers a unique and rustic atmosphere that makes dining here such a treat. The breakfast is absolutely delicious — We had the Ragin Cajun Scramble and Phoenix poached eggs, and it was packed with flavor. The home fries were crispy perfection and one of the best I’ve had around here . The staff were extremely friendly and even though it’s a bit of a wait on weekends, it’s well worth it. It’s definitely a place We’d love to visit again.

So busy but worth the wait! Iron gate is in the loveliest Victorian style building and their vegan menu is a dream, I was a bit skeptical about 15$ for French toast but the portions are so big and incredibly delicious (probably the best vegan french toast)! Our servers were very helpful despite it being packed as well, Just wish the Beyond sausage for protein was not additional charge because I would absolutely go back to try Update- went when it was less busy and tried the tofu scramble, extremely fast service and it was incredible I highly recommend trying!

Greats amounts of food and super good too. Keep in mind that you have to put yourself on a waitlist and it can be up to 1 hour or more, but you can check on yelp how it’s going. It’s worth the wait. This is my go to place when I’m in Albany, so if you’re in town make sure to visit!
