First of all, I must say that I did not take any outside food to the cafe shop. I have seen this shop owners responded to negative reviews by saying that they ate out-side food in the shop as a counterattack to justifiy their rude and unforfessional service attitude. Today is not the first time I went to the shop. I have their coffee collection card. I am four points away from getting a free coffee to proof that this is not an occational experience. Before today's visit, it was not that bad. However, today the tall lady in the counter was very cold and rude. The attitude is so cold and impolite that it makes people angry. I don't understand that why the staff has two faces. They can smile and greet to the white Eastern European customers they like, and be very friendly and talkative with their colleagues. At the same time, they are very cold and rude to other customers, including me, an Asian lady. It is obviously racial discrimination. The only difference is that they didn't write that people other than Eastern Europeans are not welcome to go inside here. What's so good is that Starsky's Eastern European employees are polite and welcoming to many non-Eastern European white people! It's not that all Eastern Europeans are cold, but your staffs, specialy the tall lady, are lacking professional trainings and hospitality. Mississauga is a multi-races city. If you only like white Eastern Europeans, your coffee shop will definitely fail.

I’m genuinely surprised by the number of negative reviews here because the food is absolutely amazing. One particular review from Sarah Wu stood out to me—it honestly made me laugh. It’s interesting how quickly people pull the race card over what is likely just a cultural difference. Many Eastern Europeans have a naturally reserved demeanor, which some might interpret as cold, but that’s just their way of being. It’s not personal. Unfortunately, we live in a time where any negative experience is instantly attributed to discrimination, rather than simply acknowledging that not every interaction is going to be warm and welcoming. I’ve personally had less-than-pleasant experiences in various stores, including those run by Arabic and Asian owners. In fact, some of the worst treatment I’ve seen has been in certain Asian stores where they openly profile Black customers, following them around under the assumption they’ll steal. If we’re going to talk about bias, we should acknowledge that it exists across all communities, not just selectively point fingers. I’ve also seen people from all backgrounds enjoying themselves here—laughing, smiling, and having a great time. And then there’s that one overly sensitive person who seems determined to be offended. It’s honestly ridiculous. Not every interaction is some deep social issue—sometimes, people just have different personalities. Instead of making a scene, maybe take a step back and realize that not everything revolves around you. At the end of the day, good food is good food. If people want to make their dining experiences about something else, that’s on them.

This is a super cute and cozy cafe! Many Eastern European lunch options to choose from, as well as breakfasts and coffees. I enjoyed a Chicken Schnitzel on a bun with a latte. The lady who took my order was very polite and served the lunch and coffee to me where I was sitting. I loved the chocolate swirl on the latte - eating here felt like a home cooked lunch was made. Will definitely be returning to try their other options and just relax on a lunch break. *Note: The cafe is accessible right from Starsky Fine Foods! There is also a separate entrance from outside.
