A fresh take on the coffee shop and an introvert's dream. Standing Ovation has carved their own niche in the coffee shops around the Sunnyvale/Mesquite area by subverting the expectations of what a coffee shop is supposed to be. Though I am one to usually gravitate toward the typical cozy coffee shop, the interior is refreshing, modern yet welcoming. In addition to their out of the ordinary coffee shop interior, their menu also encapsulates their modern twist of the coffee shop. The menu has a few classics but I would say the appeal is in their innovative takes of those classics. There are a variety of flavors and additions (including boba) you can customize across menus choices which set it apart from others. That being said it is not impossible to appease the classic coffee connoisseur with the signature coffee menu but more so geared toward adventurous taste buds. The food selections follow suit with savory and sweet classics such as avocado toasts, paninis, and pastries for both the sweet or savory breakfast lover as well as unique items like mochi donuts, bubble waffles, and gelato. They also have an all day breakfast menu! The experience itself is an introvert's dream. Though it may not be everyone's cup of tea, the ordering is done through a tablet which if you're anything like me makes ordering more complex orders with many additions less nerve-wracking and easier. This may seem like a negative for some since it eliminates the interaction with the staff (can also be seen as a positive depending on who you are), however this does not render the establishment sterile since the staff make it a point to greet every customer even if they're in the kitchen and out of sight! I have been here a few times and have never found the menu difficult to order from but can understand why it could be confusing for some that are not as tech-savvy or are not familiar with all the possible customizations you can make while ordering. However, all the interactions I have had with staff have shown me that they are here to serve the customer and I am sure would be willing to help if you ask or simply if you want to strike up a conversation. There are many items strewn about for sale that one can peruse as they wait for their order. Items span from brew sets, trinkets, plushies, packaged food items, and handmade goods. It has been delightful seeing how their selection has grown since their opening! The seating options can accommodate the solo diner to larger groups, up to about 5-6 people, since seating is flexible and can be moved around. In all, do not mistake it's not so typical interior and ordering system to be sterile and lacking warmth because the service and experience are quite the opposite. If you want to try something new, fresh, and out of the ordinary with a large selection try Standing Ovation Cafe and you'll be leaving giving them a standing ovation!

I had the Brown Sugar Boba, Matcha Gelato, and the Hello Kitty Waffle W/ Strawberry Cream (all very delicious!) The staff were friendly, and the ordering kiosk was fairly easy to use. They also have a wall of miscellaneous kawaii/Sanrio items to purchase as well. Overall I enjoyed my visit and I’m glad to have found a good place to get boba that’s close to my home. My favorite item was definitely the waffle!

Extremely overpriced for what you get. While the place is very cute and kid friendly, the experience wasn’t great when I spent over $50 on myself and two kids and they didn’t even have forks to give us to eat. We had to go home just to be able to eat the food! Very disappointing.
