★★★★★ This café is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm smiles and friendly service that makes you feel right at home. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with a fresh style. This spot is perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying a quiet moment with a great cup of coffee. Plus, it’s kid-friendly, which makes it a perfect spot for the whole family! The food and drinks are nothing short of amazing—everything is fresh, flavorful, and made with care. And the music? On point! Fiji was playing when we walked in, setting the perfect vibe and making the experience even better. I only wish there was a location on the other side of the water because I would be there every week! That said, the 30-minute drive is so worth it, and I can’t wait to go back again and again. If you haven’t visited this Norfolk gem yet, you’re missing out—highly recommend! 💎

Great coffee shop with a an incredible family that runs and staffs. The atmosphere is super cozy and they have a kids play area which is great! Definitely treat yourself to some baked goods and they have unique latte combinations that you won't find at many cafes!

The café’s decor is vibrant and full of pride, showcasing Polynesian heritage with a homey touch that will make you feel instantly welcomed. It’s clear how much thought and heart went into crafting this space, and it genuinely added to the experience. Now, let’s talk about the food! If you’re heading here, don’t miss the Ube Cinnamon Rolls. They strike the perfect balance of flavor—just the right hint of sweetness paired with that familiar, comforting taste of ube. Pair that with one of Apelu’s many drink selections, and you’re in for a treat. Every drink option feels thoughtfully curated, so you really can’t go wrong no matter what you choose. The café feels like the kind of spot you could spend an afternoon in, whether you’re studying, reading a good book, or simply relaxing with a cinnamon roll and bubble tea in hand. For me, Apelu Island Cafe has become a must-visit whenever I’m in Norfolk. It’s truly a unique, heartwarming spot that deserves all the love!
