Roastology
Cool coffee shop in a warehouselike space with house-roasted beans, sandwiches & outdoor seating.

There has definitely been a big vibe shift at this location versus the old one. It is far more industrial but is very bright and open. Seating is a little limited which is funny since the location in a warehouse is massive. I do think I’m biased from coming here on a cold winter day, it might feel refreshing in the summer, but it did feel a little uninviting in the winter. The latte was great though, nice foam, good flavor. I was really happy with my coffee but it may not be a place I come to hang out.

Great service and atmosphere. They really capture the heart of the coffee scene in Richmond. Beans roasting in the background. Very friendly staff. And the coffee was up to par. I could taste the richness and nuance of the espresso bean through the oatmilk.

Stopped by on the first day of Roastology's opening at their new location and Scott's Addition and was unfortunately disappointed in my experience. This is no longer the Roastology that you might have known on Cary Street. I arrived at Roastology at approx. 11:30am hoping to grab a coffee and sit for just a few minutes (not working or reading); however, upon entering I knew that would be by complete luck if it happened. There are 6 small (2 to 3 seats) tables in the front 1/4 of the building which were all occupied. Service was not speedy, but I had 5-6 people in front of me (in a group). I was able to grab a table, but didn't stay long. What was once a cozy, warm, inviting ambiance clad in wood tones and greenery is now a sterile, modern, industrialized roasting room with seating. I like Roastology's coffee (it was my first cup of coffee when I moved to Richmond), but can't say I'll frequent the cafe again to sit and catch up with someone.
